Catch Up

So, what went on in the hangar before the Christmas break?

Both wings have been removed from the Mk. XIV to allow access for deep inspection of the wings. The propeller is due overhaul so that has been removed and dismantled. Dave has been busy recovering the control surfaces.

Mk. V Spitfire EP120 has been undergoing a Permit renewal inspection. A couple of major items have to be dealt with on this inspection, one being the inspection and pressure testing of all flexible hoses. The propeller has now been on the aircraft for almost twelve years so a hub split has to be carried out to check for corrosion. The normal overhaul period is six years.
